NORO II is hosted by the department of gastrointestinal surgery at Sykehuset i Vestfold. Our department performs a high volume of robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery by Norwegian standards. In addition to the NORO course, we also offer training courses in practical gastrointestinal surgery.

I am just sending this email to thank you and your colleagues for an incredibly great course in Tønsberg last week! I learned a great deal and had an amazing time. I know how much organization goes into arranging courses, and especially when you are so dependent on the technology working, people showing up, and equipment being available, so I am very grateful that you “go to the trouble” of doing this—particularly when the course is not mandatory. The course content, experiences, and key points have already been discussed back and forth here at my hospital, so my participation has already been put to good use. I also believe that many of my colleagues are annoyed that they were not able to prioritize attending this year. It is also very inspiring to hear snippets about how you run the department—for example, the focus on education, attention to quality and outcomes, and a low threshold for trying out new equipment within safe frameworks.
